The best cellphone tracker software Honor 9X

The lack of processing power also reared its head when we put the device to the sword of benchmarking tests.

But, before we get too critical of the Honor 9X, it will be prudent to remember that at the end of the day, it is a budget segment smartphone that starts at Rs 13, and as such only promises enough when it comes to performance. Having said that, it should not be forgotten that at the price, the Honor 9X also faces competition from devices such as the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Realme 5 Pro, both of which offer excellent performance at the price point. With the 9X, Honor has also attempted to aggressively target buyers looking for above par camera performance in the segment.

Does it manage to do so? Well, yes and no. During our time with the phone, we found pictures clicked using the primary lens come out with decent detail. This was especially true when the lens was fed with the just amount of natural light. Resultant shots were crisp, with accurate colours and good detail.

Moving to artificial light, Honor 9X managed to retain colour accuracy, but the lens lost a little in terms of detail it captured. The low light performance of the device is about average. While Honor does provide a software solution to improve this in the form of a dedicated night mode, the feature in itself is a little underwhelming in the results it offers, and especially the time it takes to click pictures using it. Interestingly, the front camera also offers support for software backed features, including Night Mode and Portrait shots. Both offer decent results when compared to the typical offerings that are available in the segment.

The Honor 9X will be the last such offering from Honor, for some time at least. Huawei has used the P-series to showcase its advancements in imagery.

How Does the Honor 9X Compare to Other Budget Phones?

The P40 Pro is also expected to do the same, but only this time, Huawei will have to rely on the hardware alone and hope that HMS ecosystem will not be much of a barrier in uptake. It was solely powered by HMS, but looked and felt the same as before. Icons, Settings and the likes were all the same. But instead of Google Playstore, there was the App Gallery. That could mean that the app store will dish out the apps you need over apps that are most downloaded.

In fact, if you go back to an older device from the Chinese giant, you will find most of the apps and services that Huawei offers as an alternative to Google suite of apps and services. HMS has been present in all Huawei and Honor devices, albeit in a restricted manner, launched in India. The situation is similar to most smartphones that are not Android One certified and use their own Android skin.

Under HMS, things like the setup process, encryption, cloud storage, and even ads will be tailored by Huawei. That could make the experience of using Huawei and Honor smartphones a little different from others, but largely, things should remain the same as before. S, and surely enough, not present in the Huawei App Gallery.

We discussed this problem with Mr. But right now it is. Microsoft was allowed by the U. Department of Commerce to sell software to Huawei in November And soon enough, the Microsoft Office apps started appearing on the App Gallery. Huawei is also allowed to ship Windows-based laptops globally. In fact, searching the App Gallery, we also found an official app of Twitter present.

So even if presently there is no official support for the top three most used apps in the world, Huawei could ultimately get Facebook onboard, just like Microsoft. After all, Google also generates significant revenues from doing business with Huawei. Provided it does, Mr. Yet, going by how invested Huawei is to build out HMS, especially for its global consumers, it could soon abandon Google altogether once it deems the ecosystem is ready. And like Apple, Huawei also has total control over the hardware, including the chipset and even the camera.

The company regularly designs its own SoCs and collaborates with companies like Sony and Leica to develop camera systems. There's no much new from the outside, but the brand has gone instead for a major overhaul of the internals. There's a new 7nm SoC in here to improve AI and graphics performance. We went hands-on with the phone at an event in Barcelona. In terms of design, Honor has not really rocked the boat here.

You still get glass on the front and back.

Honor is calling this 3D Dual Curved glass, and in the purple color variant, you do get a nice criss-cross effect. It's also still a pretty large smartphone and feels quite heavy in the hand at grams.

It should be noted though that Honor decided to take extra security measures at the event and had all of the test devices attached to heavy security tags, so it was difficult to get a proper feel for the weight of the device. The fingerprint sensor has moved from the back to the side, as we saw in the Samsung Galaxy S10e , for example. Other than that, the phone looks just like last year's Honor 9X.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the real improvements come on the inside.

The resolution comes in at x ppi. This is essentially the exact same display we saw on the Honor 9X from the end of So not much to see in terms of what's new with the display then. In my opinion, this is an area of the smartphone that didn't really need upgrading. It's a shame that there's no Android 10, but this can't be too far coming. The Honor 9X Pro is also equipped with the new Huawei Assistant, a virtual assistant that facilitates information search and apps accessibility, a bit like Google does.
