I agree Google should have one Messenger app. I dislike the ZTE Messenger app as well as the dialer app. I would love to see them use the Google version of both.

I've used Google Messenger and did not mind it. I do use Textra to get the customizations. Android Messenger is the right way to go. However, one setting that is keeping me from using Android messenger is the ability to hide the banner notifications while the screen is on.
Once they incorporate those setting I'll probably go back to using it. Those settings should be native. I am just glad ZTE has one less thing to worry about: its messaging app. Instead, they can use the time that they spent making the messaging app to release timely security updates. I guess if ZTE were looking to exit the mobile phone business then that would be a good decision.
Otherwise, discontinuing support for your flagship phone less than a year after release would kill any potential for the A8 when it's released. Signal was a decent app, but I didnt get consistent notifications and I didnt like that when you sign on to other device it destroyed the link between the other device. I use Googles messaging app already so this would be perfect for me.

And there is a chance your storage memory is corrupted. My ztebl is a piece of crap. It gets hot like fire, now I lost texting.

I don't have the patience for this. I have had free state phones last longer,and those weren't smart phones I hate middle of the road smart phones. It's hit and miss whether u get a decent one. I agree. They usually perform better, last more, and have spare parts more readily available. ZTE Blade Max x crap. Worse phone I've ever had. Freezing up constantly now not receiving texts.
