What is Message location

A newly-released tool lets you easily track the movements of other Facebook users and plot them on a map, by scooping up the location data they have shared in Facebook Messenger chats. They are all fairly active on the chat, posting once a day or more. By simply looking at the cluster of messages sent late at night you can tell exactly where his dorm is, and in fact approximately where his room is located in that dorm.

What If i want to turn it off without the others being notified and turn it on back whenever I want. Hi Bee, This is an excellent question!

Hi Bee, following up on this as I tried it out. I stopped sharing my location, and not sure a notification went out at that time. However, when I started sharing my location again with my husband, he did receive a notification on his iPhone. So I think if you were turning it off and on, this would apparent to the other members included in family sharing. Or do I have to be sharing my location to see his?

This is good feature, however, is there any app who can do it across platform and across devices? It able to download them either. Is there a relation to this problem with activating location share or just a coincidence after turning on the share location?

To share your location in Messages, open up a conversation with the person you want to share with. This can be an existing conversation, or you can create a new one.

A map will also appear in your Messages info panel the one you got to by tapping the i button , with your avatar showing your location. Another temporary sharing option is to just send your current location. This is a one-shot option. It sends a static map with your current location pinned to it.
